Airport taxi at Heydar Aliyev (GYD)

The official taxi service at Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) is operated by Baku Taxi Service LLC, a state-authorised provider with a dedicated booth at Terminal 1. The service runs 24 hours a day with two vehicle tiers and can also be booked in advance by phone or via the official mobile app.

Where to find the airport taxi

The Baku Taxi Service booth is located at the Terminal 1 exit on the ground level. Walk straight out of the international arrivals hall — the booth is in the marked bus and taxi lane. Arriving passengers can also book in advance and have a vehicle waiting on landing.

Vehicle types

  • Standard — TX4 cabs. Comfortable for two passengers with airport-sized luggage.
  • Comfort — LEVC TX London-style cabs. Roomier interior, full wheelchair accessibility, suitable for families and groups with multiple bags.

Booking channels

  • On-site booth — at the Terminal 1 exit. No reservation needed; staff will dispatch the next available vehicle.
  • Call centre — dial 1000 from any Azerbaijani phone (or +994 12 497 27 27 helpdesk).
  • Mobile app — the official Baku Taxi Service app supports booking, tracking, and saved payment methods.

Fares

Pricing is distance-based with simple tiers:

  • 0–10 km — base tier (covers central Baku from the airport).
  • 10–20 km — extended tier.
  • 20+ km — long-distance tier (Sumqayit, Absheron peninsula resorts, Naftalan area, etc.).

After the first 15 minutes of waiting, each additional minute is charged at the metered rate for both Standard and Comfort tiers.

Quality and safety

The Baku Taxi Service operates under state authorisation and runs a 24/7 monitoring service to maintain consistent quality. Drivers are professional and the fleet is regularly inspected. Receipts are available on request.

Operating hours

The Terminal 1 booth and the call centre operate 24 hours a day, every day, in line with the airport’s around-the-clock international flight schedule.

Bolt and ride-hailing

Bolt operates throughout Baku including airport pickups. Use the official ride-hailing pickup zone outside the terminals — your driver will message you with the exact location. Bolt fares to central Baku are typically competitive with the official taxi but can surge during peak hours and around major flight bank arrivals.

Uber is not currently active in Azerbaijan. Bolt is the principal ride-hailing alternative.

Pre-booked private transfer

For groups, families, or first-time visitors, a pre-booked private transfer through Max Travel means your chauffeur will be waiting at the arrivals hall with a name placard. This is also useful if you’re carrying valuable equipment, travelling with elderly relatives, or arriving on a late-night flight.

Alternatives

  • Aero Express bus — 1.30 AZN to central Baku, every 20 minutes.
  • Car rental — Hertz, SIXT, AVIS, MY AUTO on-site at Terminal 1.
