What you need to rent

  • Valid driving licence (international permit recommended for non-CIS visitors).
  • Passport.
  • Credit card or sufficient cash deposit.
  • Minimum age usually 21 (some categories 25+).

Returns

A dedicated rental car parking lot is provided adjacent to Terminal 1, with clear directional signage on approach. Each company’s representative will inspect the returned vehicle and complete the contract. For early-morning returns before flight check-in, all four operators run 24/7 staffing to handle keys.

Driving in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan drives on the right. The road network around Baku and the airport is in good condition, but rural and mountain roads can be variable — confirm vehicle suitability with your rental company if you plan to drive into Quba, Qabala, or the Naftalan/Galaalti regions. Speed limits are 60 km/h in urban areas and 90 km/h on highways unless signposted otherwise. Fuel is widely available; petrol stations accept cash and most international cards.

Alternatives if not driving

Stay connected on arrival

Get a Baku-ready data eSIM from DataMax before you fly. Useful for navigation while driving, finding fuel stations, and contacting your rental company if anything comes up.
